Biography

I grew up in Redlands, CA, a small town down south. Growing up in Redlands was no big whoop, but family has played a big role in my life and they are the ones that have made me the person I am today. I am now one of the coordinators for New Student Orientation (NSO) here on campus, and I am learning to be a leader by running the program with my sidekick, Dustin (Boomer) Donnell. I try to be as involved as I can with both on-campus and off-campus life. I am part of Greek Life and am trying to make a difference in the world. My sorority (Delta Phi Gamma) is a part of the American Cancer Society, and it has allowed me to honor not only my grandfather — who passed away from Lymphoma Cancer — but all the other families out there who have lost their loved ones. I am a friendly person who loves to run, learn new things, and can only look forward to what life has to offer.

Why did you choose CSU Stanislaus?

The reason why I chose CSU Stanislaus was because when I visited my junior year in high school with my AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) class I met some faculty and students, and I loved it. Faculty seemed to really want to help the students succeed, and they really made an effort to get to know their students. I knew this is where I belong.

What advice would you give a prospective student?

1. Learn to balance your time if you are going to participate in a sport, clubs, and/or Greek Life. There are going to be times when you would rather go out with friends when you should be writing your five-page essay. Start homework early and get ahead so you can enjoy time with family or friends.
2. Get involved on campus and participate in all the quad/sporting events.
3. Really get to know your professors. They are more than willing to help you with your writing or an assignment that you really didn’t understand. They have office hours for a reason — use them!
4. Last but not least, have fun and learn! Attending CSU Stanislaus means you are doing something with your life and that you have goals. Be proud to be a Warrior!

What has been your favorite academic or student life experience so far?

My favorite student life experience so far has to be my time spent living in the dorms. Living on campus has been so rewarding and so much fun! The dorms allowed me to make many friends when I had none. Living in The Village made studying easier, since all my neighbors just happened to be in my classes. The Village gave my friends and I fun activities to do on boring weekends, in addition to providing us with a safe community. The best part of it all is the neighbors that will forever be my friends.

What is your career objective?

My main career objective is to be an FBI Agent for the narcotics team. But I would like to start off as a police officer first and then slowly work my way up. I am also really interested in working with probation as well, so I figure after police work, I would go into probation and work with people who serve only part of their time in jail/prison instead of serving all their time in jails/prisons.

Do you plan to attend graduate school?

I do plan to attend graduate school to obtain a masters in criminal justice or business. My main goal would be to obtain a Ph.D. before I have kids.

What clubs, sports, and activities have you participated in?

I have participated in the Criminal Justice Club, the Catholic Student Association organization, the Village Varsity Mentors program in the dorms and, last but not least, I am part of Greek Life.

Who is your most influential personal and/or University mentor?

The most influential person in my life would most definitely be my mother. She is one of the reasons why I am here today pushing myself to my limits. My mother is not only my best friend, but she is someone that I can always look up to. She has always been my role model, and I cannot thank her enough for all that she has done for me. Thanks mom, I love you! As for an influential University mentor, there are too many to name, but I would like to thank everyone in MSR 180 (home of New Student Orientation) for all the food, fun, encouragement, and hard work.
