Biography
I was born and raised in Modesto, California. I have five brothers and one sister. I have been very fortunate to live with the most amazing family. Unfortunately, my parents did not get a college education, but they have always been hard-working people whom I admire. My parents have helped me develop into the kind of person I have become. I am a first generation college student. I have worked since age 15, and I am currently working at CSU Stanislaus as a Lead Student Ambassador and at Baskin Robbins. I love to be social and be involved in anything that has to do with helping the community.
Why did you choose CSU Stanislaus?
I chose CSU Stanislaus for its welcoming and friendly environment. It is also less than half an hour from home. I wouldn't have to worry about getting homesick. The simple fact that this campus is beautiful.
What kind of Career do you want to go into after you graduate?
I would love to work for a private organization that would help better our community (CALCASA) or go into the education field. I would enjoy educating our future generations.
What does "learning" mean to you?
Learning to me means dedication, passion, responsibility, and having the privilege of expanding one's knowledge. Learning is part of living life and experiencing new things and know how to understand them.
Who is your most influential person or university mentor?
Christy "CJ" Chaney (Office Coordinator for Admissions and Outreach) and Gabriela Nuno. I have been fortunate to have met two wonderful and caring women like them. They have been pushing me to strive for the best in my studies and my personal life. I know if I am having trouble in straightening my life from the bumpy rides life and school can give me, CJ and Gaby are there to direct me back to the right thoughts and path. They are not just my bosses but friends and role models.
What clubs sports, and activities have you participated in?
I work for Admissions and Outreach as a Lead University Ambassador. I am also part of Lambda Sigma Gamma Sorority, I am also planning to join the Hunger Network
What makes you tick? What do you do for fun?
I have a busy schedule. If I am not at school I am working at one of my two jobs, but when I do get that one day to myself, I love to hang out with my family and friends, either having a movie night or going out for dinner.
How would you convince a prospective student that CSU Stanislaus is the best fit for their higher education needs?
I have been privileged to give tours daily and get to experience the great bonding and interaction between myself and our future prospective students. I emphasize the opportunity of having a one-on-one meeting with a college advisor. Informing these students of the great programs that we offer, for example Nursing, Biology, Liberal Studies, and more. I would inform them that CSU Stanislaus has a free and accessible tutoring program that is available to help them develop and make their pursuit of a higher education much easier.
