Biography
Like other students at our campus, I was able to experience my education at both the main campus and the Stockton campus. Both campuses had their own unique environments which I enjoyed being a part of. Since being a student here, I have been a Mary Stuart Rogers Scholar for three years and am also part of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. I strongly believe in community service and have served the Latino community through my church for many years.
Why did you choose CSU Stanislaus?
The main characteristics that drew me to this university were its reputation for preparing future teachers and the proximity to my home. I wanted a place that was full of diversity and that would offer the support I needed to become a bilingual teacher. I considered UOP and CSU Sacramento, but something about the universities just didn't feel right to me. It wasn't until I visited our university that I felt I was where I belonged.
What advice would you give a prospective student?
The best advice I can give anyone is to attempt activities that move you out of your comfort zone. I'm sure you'll either end up surprising yourself or realizing that the activity was just not for you. Either way, you'll have learned something about who you are.
What has been your favorite academic or student life experience so far?
My most memorable student life experience was the day I drove my dad to CSU Stanislaus for the first time. He had never stepped on a college campus before and had a very vague idea about what college was all about. Walking with him that day allowed me to reflect on how different our educational experiences were and how lucky I was to be here.
What is your career objective?
Bilingual elementary school teacher
What clubs, sports, and activities have you participated in?
No one in particular. I've had great instructors and have learned from all of them.
Who is your most influential personal and/or University mentor?
Who is your most influential personal and/or University mentor? Dr. Jim Tuedio has been a tremendous help to me personally and academically throughout my time at the University. Ms. Shea Mester has been a wonderful presence in my life, as well, encouraging me as a friend in my pursuits, as well as offering her expertise to assist me in various projects.
