Biography

I was born in Stockton, CA, and moved to Wallace when I was two years old. I attended Calaveras High School and participated in Basketball, Track and Field, and Cross Country. I also attained my Eagle Scout rank in the Boy Scouts of America while in high school. I lived in Wallace almost all my life until I moved into The Village dorms here at CSU Stanislaus.

I came into college ready for anything. I joined the Village Council, and became an RA (resident advisor) the summer of my sophomore year.  I was an RA for two years and now work in the Office of Housing and Residential Life as an office assistant.  I also work at KCSS, CSU Stanislaus’ radio station, and as a Peer Ambassador with New Student Orientation.

Why did you choose CSU Stanislaus?

I chose CSU Stanislaus because it was the perfect distance from home (not too far, not too close), and it was the city life I was looking for. Turlock is the largest town I’ve lived in (Wallace’s population is about 500 people).

What advice would you give a prospective student?

Keep your mind open, and be ready to try anything. There are many things that I could’ve missed out on if I had stayed in my comfort zone. College is the time to experience new things, so don’t sit on the sidelines!.

What has been your favorite academic or student life experience so far?

Probably my favorite student life experience so far would be my time in The Village at CSU Stanislaus.  It was in The Village that I met all of the wonderful people that I have in my life right now. I also learned a lot about myself, and grew greatly as an individual. It’s something that I will never forget.

What is your career objective?

My career objective is to either work in the field of Radio Broadcasting or Public Relations.  These are things that are all around me in my work, and I think that it would be exciting to be a part of it.

Do you plan to attend graduate school?

I am considering it, as I believe it would allow me more opportunities to learn and grow, and help with my selection of a career.

What clubs, sports, and activities have you participated in?

I’ve participated in Intramural Softball (sadly gone), Basketball, Ultimate Frisbee (undefeated Champions), and Outdoor Soccer.

Who is your most influential personal and/or University mentor?

I would have to say that I have many influential mentors, as they’ve all taught me something different.  All the RAs I’ve worked with, along with those who were RAs when I was a freshman, the Office of Housing and Residential Life Office Staff, the NSO Program Staff, Brandon Price (Liberal Studies lecturer), Peter DeCaro (Communication Studies professor), and countless others.  These individuals have helped me to become the person I am today, and still help me grow now.  I cannot ever thank them enough, and I can only hope that one day I can be of as much assistance as they are to me.
