Biography
I am 19 years old and have lived in Turlock for seven years. I love the small-town atmosphere. I was raised on a dairy in Waterford, so I am very comfortable with rural country towns. I graduated from Turlock High School, Class of 2006. I am on the volleyball team. I am also coaching a younger age group for club volleyball. I enjoy going to Starbucks, visiting with family, and working out. I have an older brother named Mason who is attending Benedictine College in Kansas on a football scholarship. My dad lives in Fort Bragg, CA where he is the police chief. My mom lives in Modesto, CA and works for the Modesto Police Department.
Why did you choose CSU Stanislaus?
I chose CSU Stanislaus because it was a beautiful campus with many resources that I found beneficial. The opportunity to play Division II college volleyball was one that I could not pass up. I also received some financial support that finalized my decision to stay close to home and attend CSU Stanislaus.
What advice would you give a prospective student?
I would advise a prospective student to keep an open mind when searching for the right college to attend. CSU Stanislaus is beautiful and has great staff who make your educational experience interesting. Although the area may seem bland compared to universities like Cal Poly or UC San Diego, the quality of education and resources available to you at CSU Stanislaus are enough to at least make you consider it an option.
What has been your favorite academic or student life experience so far?
My favorite student life experience has to be that of being a college athlete. I have learned to manage my time, stay organized, and be active. It is a challenge that I love. Although at times it may be overwhelming, it is well worth it.
What is your career objective?
Politics via campaigns; possibly law
What clubs, sports, and activities have you participated in?
I play and coach volleyball.
Who is your most influential personal and/or University mentor?
I am highly influenced by my father. He just received his master's degree in leadership from Saint Mary's College in Moraga. He is a true leader and role model. Through hard times he has always stuck to his own beliefs. He never wavers, and I admire him for that. I look up to him and someday hope to be as great as he is.
