Biography
I was born in Escondido, CA on September 27, 1986 and moved to Temecula, CA at a very young age. I attended Chaparral High School and stayed active in tennis, colorguard, and numerous other clubs on campus. I graduated in '04 and moved to the Central Valley to attend Stanislaus.
Why did you choose CSU Stanislaus?
While doing a search on collegeboard.com for Zoology major, I came across Stanislaus because it had a Zoology concentration listed. I looked at the campus online, decided to take a campus tour and fell in love with its beauty. Also, I learn better in a smaller classroom setting, and with the University's 15:1 student to faculty ratio, I found it.
What advice would you give a prospective student?
Get involved. Nothing makes a college experience better than staying active in the campus life. Join a club, play intramurals, become a senator in student government. There are many options, so get involved!
What has been your favorite academic or student life experience so far?
I have enjoyed being able to give campus tours to prospective students. I get to share my love of this campus and its campus life to students who might otherwise overlook Stanislaus. It is definitely a rewarding experience when I see students on campus who were on a campus tour I gave.
What is your career objective?
Animal trainer at a zoo working with big cats.
What clubs, sports, and activities have you participated in?
I have been involved in the Union Program Board, Campus Cats Coalition, Village discipline, Village Council. I have been cheerleading captain, and I have held an on-campus job as a university ambassador giving campus tours, classroom presentations, and info tables.
Who is your most influential personal and/or University mentor?
My academic advisor, Dr. Pamela Roe. She might not realize how much she has influenced me, but she has always encouraged me to reach my goal of finishing my degree in three years. Never once did she tell me that I was crazy or that it couldn't be done, and I am very grateful for that.
