Biography

I am 18 years old and come from a family of five. My parents' struggle throughout life has taught me to become a successful individual with ambitions to reach all my goals. I am Hispanic; speak fluently both English and Spanish, and a Catholic. I have two brothers I love dearly. You can say I am a family-oriented person, loving, caring, sensitive, outgoing, and I enjoy new experiences that life brings.

Why did you choose CSU Stanislaus?

CSU Stanislaus fit all of my personal requirements. The class sizes, student-to-teacher ratio, help on campus, residential life, and interaction with student body, safety, but most of all the beauty of the campus caught my eye. I feel as if I am back at home.

What advice would you give a prospective student?

I would let a prospective student know the importance of college and what great experiences you will learn from it. My most important advice would be for an individual to choose their own path and make their own decisions. Don't follow friends' or family's ideas because this is for you. Only you know what you have to do. Look into your career and what is being required of you to graduate.

What has been your favorite academic or student life experience so far?

My most favorite student life experience has been about meeting all the new people I have met. At activities, Village meetings, breakfasts, dinners, and get-togethers, I have enjoyed all interactions because it has taught me about our diverse life and different viewpoints. New friends are awesome!

What is your career objective?

Nursing has always been my dream.

What clubs, sports, and activities have you participated in?

So far I have joined the Village Council, which meets on Thursday nights to discuss Village awareness and encourage students to become more involved with one another. Every activity the Village Council as well as other school organizations has offered, I have attended activities such as study night, movie night, bingo, tournaments, and flag football. I enjoy being active and involved with others having tons of fun!

Who is your most influential personal and/or University mentor?

The most influential people are the RAs (residential assistants) and residential mentors. I see and speak with them daily. They are extremely helpful with any questions or concerns you might have. I am always welcome into their home and they take the time to invite you to join them with activities in and out of the Village. They are extremely kind and caring.
