Why did you choose CSU Stanislaus?
I would call it fate. Originally I was going to go farther away for school but once I talked to my high school counselor, Mr. Caffeiro, with my concerns he talked about the wonders of CSU Stanislaus. I suddenly changed my decision.
This was in May, which is way past the college application deadline but he helped me out and I was able to apply as a late admit. It was a lot of work but luckily I was admitted in June. It's been a blessing ever since, one of the best decisions I've ever made.
What does ‘learning’ mean to you, as it pertains to a college environment?
Learning to me not only involves academics in a college environment but everything outside the classroom such as campus involvement. During these past three years I've grown personally with the clubs and organizations I've been involved in, ranging from Greek life (Alpha Pi Sigma) to ASI and several clubs. I've learned to be committed and put all my effort toward the various tasks I have been presented with. I've developed professionally, academically and personally through college.
Who is your most influential personal and/or university mentor? Why?
My university mentor is Carolina Alfaro. I was met her during my freshman year of college because she is the advisor for Teatro LHDC (one of the clubs on campus). She has always offered her help and guidance. I'm thankful because she introduced me to the current job I have now as a University Ambassador. She guided me through the application process and was there to answer any questions I had. She is an admirable human being who, no matter what she's going through, is always there to help you.
