Why did you choose CSU Stanislaus?
I chose CSU Stanislaus because it is a small and friendly campus community. It is close to home and the design of the landscape makes the campus easy to navigate. The staff and faculty are also very approachable. All of this makes CSU Stanislaus a very welcoming university.
What does ‘learning’ mean to you, as it pertains to a college environment?
'Learning' to me is sort of a cycle that is continuous. At times, it may seem frustrating because one never really stops learning. There are always new experiences or certain knowledge that can shape us or change us as a person. But at the same time, this is also great for it keeps us on our toes. It’s always interesting to consider new ideas, concepts or opinions. One just has to be open-minded to the perspectives of others.
Who is your most influential personal and/or university mentor? Why?
I would say the whole team in the Division of University Advancement here at CSU Stanislaus, where I work. They have been very kind, helpful and caring not only on a professional level, but also on a personal one. It has been really great working with them and I appreciate all of their consideration and opportunities they have given me thus far.
What clubs, sports, and activities in which have you participated? Any fun/memorable experiences?
An experience that I will never forget is when I attended an event that the University Advancement department hosted. I was able to see a lot of community members who give to CSU Stanislaus or are affiliated with the university in one way or another.
Another one was when I participated in the Summer Bridge program before starting my freshman year. I, along with other incoming students, spent three weeks in the dorms familiarizing ourselves with the culture of the university. I was able to meet new people, find my way around campus, and learn about the programs and services the school offers. Overall it was a great experience.
What makes you tick? What do you do for fun?
I really enjoy taking long contemplative walks in the mornings when I don't have to be at school or work. I like to watch films that have some kind of philosophical theme. I also enjoy spending time with my family. My minor is Philosophy, so I like to think about different topics and issues, but interesting enough I don't really like reading the works of philosophers; they are too in-depth. In a way, it makes it more intriguing analyzing my initial thoughts of those topics that I'm curious about.
How would you convince a prospective student that CSU Stanislaus is the best fit for their higher education needs?
CSU Stanislaus is a good fit for a lot of prospective students in various ways. One can really familiarize him/herself with the campus due its size. Because of that, one can also engage with his/her instructors more. The academic programs are great and there are also a variety of opportunities for getting involved.
