Peer Mentors
Sam Pan
Hello, my name is Sam Pan and I am a peer mentor at Student Support Services here at CSU Stanislaus. I am also a graduate student pursuing a MA in Education with a School Counseling Concentration. I have a BA in Psychology from UC Merced and have attended school at Delta College as well. I am a first generation college student from a low-income family and understand the difficulties other students from a similar background face. My family moved to the US from China when I was 6, and I grew up in San Francisco. I have worked since high school and understand the balancing act needed to maintain good grades and to have a steady income. I hope to use my experience and training to help students at CSU Stanislaus succeed and graduate, and then to use my experience to help young people in the future. Stop by our office and say hi!
Frankie Pineda
Hi everyone! My name is Francisco Pineda, but I like to go by Frankie. I am a first generation college student at CSU Stanislaus. Coming from immigrant parents, I am humbled by the opportunities and educational experiences that I am having here at CSU Stanislaus. As a third year student, I have declared myself as a Psychology major with a 3.6 GPA. I decided to pursue this degree for many reasons but mainly with the hopes of being able to help others. Therefore, during my time at CSU Stanislaus, I have challenged myself to take full advantage of the numerous programs and extra-curricular activities where I can learn and grow with others. Currently, I am a member of Nu Alpha Kappa Fraternity, Student Support Services, a volunteer of the Stanislaus County Boy Scouts of America, and an ongoing active volunteer within the community. As a peer mentor through Student Support Services, I plan on being as helpful and supportive as possible. I highly encourage this program! If you have any questions, I'll be more than happy to answer them, so please pay me a visit. Hope to see you soon!
