Q: Where is the SLD office located?
A: We are located on the first floor on the Student Union. Once you come in the main entrance we are the first office on the right.
Q: What do I do if I want to start a club?
A: Five members are needed to start a club on campus, 3 of which need to be designated president, treasurer, and reservations coordinator. Treasurer and reservations coordinator MUST attend a training session. Along with having the minimum number of members, the club must find a CSU Stanislaus staff or faculty member to be the club's advisor, and create a constitution.
Q: What IS chartering?
A: Chartering is the process you must go through in order to become an officially recognized student organization on campus. Chartering for new/current student organizations happens once in the fall and once in the spring of each academic school year. Benefits of becoming a chartered student organization on campus include: a mailbox in the Student Leadership and Development office, your organization will be listed on the web directory, and your organization will be approved to use an account with ASI to charge services in the Student Union and reserve space on campus for free.
Q: What if I missed the Chartering Dates? Do I need to wait until the following semester to charter my club?
A: If you missed the chartering meeting to start a new club or re-charter an existing club then yes, you must wait until the next semester.

Q: How do I find out information on when clubs meet during the week?
A: On the CSU Stanislaus Student Leadership and Development website there is a Club's Directory link that has all of the clubs listed. When you select a club, you can find the contact information for the officers of the club and contact them via email.
Q: How do I get involved in a club?
A: Go to the club directory online and select a club you are interested in possibly joining. Read about the club on their website and get the officers contact information from their website if you would like more information.
Q: What is the difference between a local and a national sorority or fraternity?
A: National sororities and fraternities are part of nation-wide associations. National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) oversees all 26 national sororities affiliated and Northamerican InterFraternal Council (NIFC) oversees every national fraternity. Each national group has a national organization that they answer' to in order to ensure the business aspects of their chapter are being accomplished. These national organizations also have larger alumni and alumnae populations throughout the entire nation. Local sororities and fraternities are solely based throughout the CSU Stanislaus community. They are not affiliated with NPC or NIFC and are not overseen by any higher association. Their alumnae are locally based and have a smaller population of men and women.
Q: How do I join a sorority or fraternity?
A: National sororities and fraternities hold recruitment each fall. To join a national sorority, you can access the registration form through our website. To join a national fraternity, you can sign up at one of their tables in the Quad. Local sororities and fraternities do their own recruiting, you can look on each organizations website for those dates in the fall and sometimes in the spring.
