| FTIP Summary |
The Foreign Travel Insurance Program (FTIP) is designed to provide automatic coverage for faculty, students and staff while traveling abroad for short-term (less than 30 days) trips. CSU Risk Management Authority has paid the premium in advance and will allocate costs to each campus based on actual travel. This program provides foreign general liability, foreign excess auto liability, foreign workers’ compensation, foreign travel accident & sickness, and travel assistance services to faculty, staff and students overseas on University-sponsored* trips.
- *University Sponsored Trips are those which the University directs; funds; approves; assigns; requires for academic credit; or requires as part of a program or class.
FTIP only covers University students, faculty and staff when the participant is physically in the foreign country. Travel in the United States, air travel, and travel outside of the FTIP-designated foreign country(ies) are not covered. FTIP is necessary because the University’s existing general and auto liability and workers’ compensation coverage is limited to the United States; the risk pool does not have worldwide resources to address litigation brought in foreign countries. |

| Register for Coverage |
| Although coverage is automatic, information is needed for every trip as soon as the participant begins preparing for foreign travel. This will ensure that the participants traveling abroad have proper travel assistance, provide whereabouts in the event of an emergency, and record underwriting information for per campus premium allocation.
Register for Foreign Travel Insurance a minimum of ten working days prior to trip departure.
Important Note: Depending on the destination country (see Travel Warnings and embargo countries), the underwriter may require additional time and information. |

| Cost of Coverage |
| Foreign Travel Insurance premiums for all University-sponsored international travel are paid as an all-University expense. |
