Brief Bio: I grew up in southern New Mexico and received my undergrad degree from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. I lived in Austin, Texas for a couple of years before moving to the Boston area to work on my Ph.D. from Brandeis University. I've been at Stan State since Fall of 2007, and so far I love it.
Reasearch Interests: Broadly stated, my research interests are in evolutionary psychology. Basically my interests lie at the intersection of bio-psych and social-psych. For example, I am currently working on a study examining how hormone levels (e.g. testosterone) throughout development are associated with mating behavior. If I were to reduce my research interests to a list of keywords they would be: mating behaviors, social dominance, hormones, attachment, first impressions, attractiveness, cooperation, and close interpersonal relationships.
Teaching Interests: While I never thought I would say this, I thoroughly enjoy teaching statistics and research methods courses. I also teach, have taught, or plan on teaching: Sexual Behavior, Advanced General Psychology, Hormones and Behavior, Drugs and Behavior, the Psychology of Attractiveness, Intro to psych, Social Psychology, and Evolutionary Psychology.
