Congratulations to the Spring 2022 initiates of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi at Stanislaus State, Chapter 282! This virtual ceremony has been created to honor our students since we were unable to meet for our annual ceremony.
The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi Chapter 282 is proud to announce Stan State individuals invited to join for Academic Year 2021/22. This Heralding occurs every spring.
Look for an email from us, where you’ll receive an exclusive pass to join at the national office online portal. Be sure to RESPOND BY APRIL 15 to be included in our initiation ceremony and to be named at commencement (if you’re graduating this year).
Medallions, certificates, and other material will be sent to you for a small handling fee of $7.00. We are discounting our chapter dues (ordinarily $20, now $13) in order to offset this fee.

Induction into Phi Kappa Phi is an extraordinary moment that represents years of hard work and commitment to academic excellence. It is an event that members will remember fondly for the rest of their lives. The purpose of the ritual of initiation is to celebrate academic excellence by gathering initiate-worthy individuals into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. These individuals are chosen on the basis of superior scholarship and sound character. Each individual chosen becomes part of a century-old community of scholars and professionals that includes individuals who have distinguished themselves in positions of leadership and whose careers have been characterized by achievement.
The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi – Chapter 282, held its annual Heralding event virtually this year on Wednesday, March 17th. Heralding is where all initiates names are announced.

Youngsters who visited the 15th Annual Housing and Residential Life Halloween Gala on October 31 received free books along with their tricks and treats.
The Phi Kappa Phi honor society chapter conducted a “Spooktacular Booook Drive” on the University campus so that trick-or-treaters at the Haunted House in The Village could receive the gift of reading during their visit. New paperback book donations for children ages 2 to 14 were collected and sorted by Phi Kappa Phi student and faculty members.
In addition to the traditional Haunted House and locations for trick-or-treating conducted by Housing and Residential Life at The Village, the event included a carnival featuring a variety of games and crafts.
Phi Kappa Phi Vice President, Teri Lunt, attended a Partnering for Success Workshop in Baton Rouge, Louisiana the weekend of October 10-12, 2008. The Workshop was held on the beautiful campus of Louisiana State University. Attendees came from all over the United States to discuss their chapters' successes and to brainstorm and learn how they can better serve their members and communities.
Teri learned that our California State University, Stanislaus chapter is doing many things right! The monthly meetings, theatrical readings, and community and faculty memberships all indicate the high level of engagement Phi Kappa Phi enjoys on our campus. Delegates from other chapters were impressed with our weeklong celebration of "The Love of Learning" leading up to our new member initiation. Teri also learned of ways to increase Phi Kappa Phi's presence on campus that will excite others to strive for inclusion in this prestigious honor's society.
Please join Phi Kappa Phi member Dr. Alison McNally (Geography) as she talks with fellow Phi Kappa Phi member Dr. Steve Arounsack (Anthropology) about the field of Visual Anthropology and his experience writing, producing, and directing documentary films. Through his courses, Dr. Arounsack mentors students as they navigate the process of developing short documentaries that highlight lived experiences in the Central Valley and beyond. Dr. Arounsack’s work has been featured on KVIE (the Sacramento PBS affiliate), and most recently he was invited to work on the animated Disney film Raya and the Last Dragon as the lead cultural advisor on the film.
