Mental Health First Aid

is a groundbreaking public education program that helps the public identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders.
Specifically, participants learn:
- The potential risk factors and warning signs for a range of mental health problems, including: depression, anxiety/trauma, eating disorders, substance use disorders, and self-injury.
- An understanding of the prevalence of various mental health disorders in the U.S. and the need for reduced stigma in their communities.
- A 5-step action plan encompassing the skills, resources and knowledge to assess the situation, to select and implement appropriate interventions, and to help the individual in crisis connect with appropriate professional care.
Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR)

is a simple educational program that teaches ordinary citizens how to recognize a mental health emergency and how to get a person at risk the help they need. It is also an action plan that can result in lives saved. Our research and evaluations to date have shown positive results, some of which are available on this website.
Friends are Good Medicine

is available to anyone who would like to learn how to facilitate Self-Help Support Group or for those that are seasoned group facilitators and would like to hone their skills or to learn new skills. This group facilitation training will introduce how to start, run and set goals for the self-help. This training will focus on the importance and benefits of self -help groups by exploring communication skills, group dynamics, values and self-esteem and looking at professionals in self -help. In addition, self -help training will emphasize in discovering individual’s leadership skills. This training consists of 12 hour of in class instruction. Those who complete the training will receive a certificate of completion.
Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)

provides practical training for caregivers seeking to prevent the immediate risk of suicide. The emphasis of ASIST workshops is on suicide first aid, on helping a person at risk stay safe and seek further help.

- Link people with community resources
