Academic research and other forms of scholarly engagement on activities beyond the classroom are fundamental for students to develop the competencies necessary for a successful career. Helping students to learn by doing, and not just passively acquire knowledge already produced, improves their analytical and communicative skills, enhances self-confidence, and provides them with the inherent satisfaction of contributing new knowledge to society. Inquiry-based learning, scholarship, and creative accomplishments can and do foster effective, high levels of student learning.
The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs wants to advance student engagement in the creative process by providing the necessary tools in support of both undergraduate and graduate student research and other scholarly activities at CSU Stanislaus.
