Dr. Daniel Davies is Assistant Professor of Cello at California State University, Stanislaus. Before coming to CSU, Daniel Davies had been a member of the Wheaton College, Illinois faculty since 1990, as well as a familiar face in the Chicago free-lance circuit, participating in various recordings and shows, including Miss Saigon, Phantom of the Opera and Showboat. He was a member of the Elgin symphony, principal cellist of the New Philharmonic Orchestra, and performed with other Chicago-area orchestras, including the Chicago and Milwaukee Symphonies.

Currently, Dr. Davies is a member of the Modesto Symphony cello section and continues his active involvement as a chamber musician by performing with other CSU faculty in various recitals throughout the year.

Dr. Davies holds a Master's degree from the Juilliard School, where he studied with Harvey Shapiro and a Doctorate from Northwestern University where he studied with Hans Jørgen-Jensen. Other influences include Bernard Greenhouse and Lorne Munroe.
