The Symphony Band is an ensemble open to majors and non-majors alike, and features performances of core band repertoire, as well as exciting additions to the literature that future music educators need to know. The focus of the ensemble is pedagogical rather than performing, thus many music education majors perform on secondary instruments, and non-majors enjoy continued technical and musical development. Positive, effective teaching techniques are consistently modeled by the conductor, making this ensemble a valuable resource for the students in the department.
