The Inter-American Piano Festival
January 23-31, 2009
California State University, Stanislaus
Turlock, California
The College of the Arts and the Department of Music at California State University, Stanislaus is pleased to announce the Inter-American Piano Festival to be held January 23-31, 2009 on the Turlock, California campus of the University.
The mission of the Festival is to establish a meeting point for pianists of both hemispheres and to provide them with an opportunity to receive coaching in both the standard repertoire as well as specific music repertoires of the Americas. Young pianists from Central, South, and North America will receive intensive artistic training with international artists Dario Ntaca (Argentina), Yin-Yin Zhao (China), and Stephen Thomas (USA).
The festival will include daily master classes open to the public, lectures on music of the Americas, and a series of final gala concerts to be held in the Bernell and Flora Snider Music Recital Hall, which was opened in 2003 with an inaugural concert by Van Cliburn.
Pianists invited to join the festival will be offered a full tuition scholarship that will allow them to participate in all Festival events at no cost. For information about participation in the Festival, please contact Stephen Thomas at 209-667-3429 or Dario Ntaca.
It is the sincere hope of the Festival coordinators that this experience will provide young pianists with a unique opportunity to meet and exchange ideas with fellow musicians from all the Americas and enrich and further their musical training and artistry.
