Community Objective Communities are made up of people. Community of People + Common Interest /Goal = Connectedness Emerging studies indicate that student who make a genuine connection with other students or individuals while at university are most likely to stay at the university and achieve a degree. Young adults who leave these communties upon graduation do so with academic, social and emotional health, items employers look for in their workforce. Connectedness = Academic, Social, Emotional Health Purpose Statement Thus, the purpose of our Interest Communities is to further aid specific residents in establishing connectedness by way of placing them with others who share a common interest and by giving them common goals. Strategic Plan to Achieve Purpose The goals, while personalized by each individual community are Education, Advocacy and Fun. These community goals will be achieved through purposeful, fully-funded, community planned events. Education will be achieved through EXLPORATION events. These events will seek to give citizens above average knowledge on their common interest and possibly special skills. Advocacy with be achieved through a SERVICE project. This project will teach our citizen the importance of putting their passion into action while promoting their common interest. Fun will be achieved through SOCIAL events. Under the assumption that fun can bond people, relieve stress and aid in learning, social events will seek to provide simply that, free, exclusive fun!
