POSITION:

The Department of Philosophy and Modern Languages invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track appointment in the Modern Languages program for teaching Portuguese and Spanish. This Assistant Professor position comprises teaching undergraduate courses mainly in Portuguese language, culture, literature, and poetry of Portugal and Brazil and requires competence to teach in the Spanish program as well. The successful candidate will have the possibility of teaching courses related to Portuguese history and culture in other departments and will have the opportunity to be involved in the Center for Portuguese Studies. Effective teaching, scholarly productivity, and service to the University are required for retention, promotion, and tenure. This is an academic year appointment with opportunities for additional Summer Session teaching. The position is contingent upon the availability of authorized funding.

MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS:
| A Ph.D. in Portuguese and a MA or minor in Spanish is required.

PREFERRED
QUALIFICATIONS:
|
A Ph.D. in Spanish. Successful experience in university-level teaching and a proven record of scholarship are highly desirable.
