Keynote address
George “Elfie” Ballis Elfie is a journalist by trade and an activist at heart. Now over 80 years old, George remains politically and professionally active. His current work includes poetry, photography, and filmmaking. In their 75th Anniversary Issue, The Fresno Bee named Elfie on the “75 who made a difference.”

The conference, hosted by the College of Humanities and Social Science Council for Sustainable Futures (CSF), is a university-wide effort. In addition to CSF, the conference is produced with labor and financial assistance from the College of Humanities and Social Science Dean’s Office, the Office of Service Learning, Division of University Advancement (University Development), and the Office and Research and Sponsored Programs. Students are also taking an active role in this year’s conference.
