*Lead time to submit proposals to the Curriculum Committee. At least one week prior to the meeting; an original hardcopy of the proposal (with original signatures) and six completed copies of the proposal package to be submitted to the Dean’s office of the CHHS/Teresa Berry.
Charge of the Committee
It is the charge of the Curriculum Committee to review and approve new programs and course proposals, and proposed major changes, discontinuance, or deactivation regarding existing programs or courses. In addition, the committee is responsible for identifying potential curricular conflicts, and recommends consultation between departments, disciplines, and colleges when indicated. For minor curricular changes, or to address questions requiring specific disciplinary expertise, the Committee should expedite the resolution of such curriculum matters by deferring to department curriculum committees. The Committee is responsible for the timely distribution of the College Faculty agendas and the minutes of each meeting.
- The Curriculum Committee shall be composed of one voting member from each of the academic departments and from programs within a department.
- Members of the Committee shall be tenured or tenure-track with a minimum of two years of academic experience with the University.
- Each of the members shall be selected by their respective departments or program in a manner determined by each department/program.
- The Chair will establish a monthly meeting schedule for the coming year, query the Committee members regarding proposed agenda items, and distribute an agenda to each department chair and the program coordinators at least five days prior to each meeting. The agenda and minutes of the previous meeting shall be posted on the College website five days prior to each meeting.
- Members will serve a two year term and the terms will be appropriately staggered. The Dean may attend as a guest of the committee, but does not serve as a formal or ex-officio member.
- Members of the Curriculum Committee shall elect the Chair during the first scheduled meeting of the fall semester.
- The Chair of the Curriculum Committee will serve as an ex-officio non-voting member of the Executive Committee.
- The Curriculum Committee will select a voting member to serve as the representative to the appropriate university curriculum committee.
