NOTE:  This feature is not used for most courses.  This is FYI only.

The Homepage tool lets you create and modify a simple homepage that other members of the course can see by using the Class Roster tool. The page you create is unique to each course, and one cannot be transferred to another Blackboard course. Homepages provide a convenient way for students to get to know each other, especially for distance or online courses where the students do not meet face to face. Instructors can create an assignment using the Homepage feature. By posting specific, focused information on the pages, students can use them to find team members, create study groups, and so on.

Note: The homepage is only visible to those enrolled in the class where it's created, including your instructor.

Creating a Homepage:

  1. Click the Course Tools link.
  2. Click the Homepage link.
  3. Type specific information in provided fields.
  4. Upload a digital picture by clicking on the Browse button and finding the file on your computer.
Note: Photos should be saved as .jpg's and should be approximately 150x150 pixels.
  5. Enter information in the Favorite Web Site field, if desired.
Note: Begin the URL with http://
  6. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the Submit button.

Viewing a Homepage:

  1. Click the Communication link.
  2. Click the Roster link.
  3. Enter the last name of the person you want to find in the Search field.
  4. Click the Search button.
  5. Click the name of the person to view the page.
Note: You can view the entire class roster by clicking on the Search button without first typing a name in the Search field.
