TII FAQ (adapted from TII.com)

Why don't I see the '!' in the Blackboard Grade Center for a student who has submitted to a Turnitin Assignment?

Sometimes there is a disconnect between Bb and TII. The paper was submitted to TII, but TII couldn't send the "!" to the Grade Center. TII is working on a solution.
If you can't download the paper, you can delete the submission and have the student submit again.

Why am I getting an error when trying to modify an existing Turnitin Assignment or grade a submission in an existing Turnitin Assignment?

The Grade Center column must have the same title as the Turnitin Assignment. If the Grade Center column is missing or if the title is different (e.g., abbreviated, etc.) this will cause errors.

How do I copy Turnitin Assignments in Blackboard?
Normally the Course Copy process will work. Select the Content Area with the student link and the Grade Center Columns and Settings to assure copy success.

Does Turnitin grab user passwords from Blackboard?
No, TII does not grab users' Bb passwords. TII stores UserIDs as a part of the verification process, but does not have access to passwords. Only the user's Bb email address and a unique ID assigned to each user within Bb are used in the verification process. Because a user is logged in to Blackboard, TII assumes they have already been authenticated.

Create a Bb/TII Assignment
  1. In the Bb Course Menu, click the Content Area (e.g., Assignments) where you want the students to submit the Turnitin Assignment.
  2. In the Assessments menu, select Turnitin Assignment.
  3. Click the button for the Assignment Type:
Paper Assignment - basic type, most common.
PeerMark Assignment - for students to review their peers' papers.
Revision Assignment - for multiple draft uploads without overwriting the previous drafts. This assignment type requires a Paper Assignment to be created first.
    Click Next Step
  4. On the New Assignment page, enter
    the Assignment Title,
    the Point Value,
    and the Start/Due/Post Date options
(Post Date may not apply for your assignment.  If used, select a date after the Due Date.)
  5. Set more options as needed
    (Special Instructions, alternate settings)
  6. Click Submit.

A column is added to your Grade Center.

Students see the TII Assignment Name View/Complete link on that content page.
The assignment is submitted to TII through the Bb TII Assignment link.
----
To download and evaluate the assignment:

In your Bb Control Panel, click Course Tools, then click the Turnitin Assignments link.
Click the link on that page for the assignment.

Click Roster Sync, if necessary, to add or update student names to the TII Author column.
