92: The main objective of LSAMP is to increase the number of individuals who face or have faced social, educational or economic barriers to careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). To achieve this objective, we are trying to improve the number of persons each year who earn bachelor's degrees in the STEM disciplines. With the assistance of the LSAMP program, students who earn bachelor's degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) will become significant contributors to their field. The LSAMP at CSU Stanislaus will help dedicated individuals become superior students in the STEM disciplines

95: Program Description
96: LSAMP Stanislaus offers a summer program for STEM majors to enhance students' preparation for math and science courses. During the academic year, selected AMP gateway courses in science and mathematics will be supplemented with enrichment workshops. After their sophomore year, students are eligible for paid internships related to their majors. There are both academic year and summer internships. A student can intern with a faculty research project, a government agency, a research laboratory, an industry, or a business. We will help the students connect with research opportunities in their majors during their junior and senior years.

99: For active participation in the academic year enrichment workshops and for receiving grades of "B" or better in the associated courses, AMP students can qualify for stipends of $300.00 for each such course. Students in an internship will receive a $600 stipend plus some research expenses. Additional financial aid is available for qualifying students.
