92:
Living and Learning at the Village
93: The goal of Housing and Residential Life at California State University, Stanislaus is to make your stay a positive living and learning experience characterized by academic excellence and co-curricular learning. We recognize that learning which takes place outside of the classroom is also an important part of your education. As a resident of the Village you will be immersed in the rich diversity of cultures, values and beliefs, which characterize a residential community.
94:
Mentor, Do I Look Like A Mentor?
95: Chances are that if you lived with us as a freshman you had a Village Varsity mentor. Through your own experience you probably took advantage of your mentor’s knowledge and insight into the university, our faculty and figuring out how to navigate through the various support resources available to students. Having enjoyed your own personal guide to the university, how about giving a little back?

96:
Through the voluntary Village Varsity Program you can serve as a mentor to new freshmen students. You can help them acclimate to the campus, meet new people, and most importantly put them on the inside track for the best dinner choices at the Village Café. Seriously, this may not seem like a big deal now, after all you’ve now got some experience under your belt and are a pro, but how did you feel those first few weeks when you didn’t know very many people? Here’s your chance to help a fellow resident, take it! Interested? Then let us know in your online application. Simply check the Village Varsity box if you are interested in serving as a mentor.

97:
The Faculty Connection
98: CSU Stanislaus has a 19 to 1 student-to- faculty ratio with an average class size of 26 students. Our smaller class sizes allow students to have a great academic experience characterized by a high level of contact with their instructors. Our diverse faculty body, of which 87% have a doctorate or other terminal degree, are subject experts in a wide range of fields and they bring this knowledge with them into the classroom. (2006-07 CSU Stanislaus Fact Book)

99:
Peer Leadership in Action
100: Within the Village a wide variety of activities and programs occur each week. As a resident you are encouraged to get involved in the planning of various events. These range from purely social and recreational activities to those which are more educational and informative. Take advantage of the leadership opportunities available to you, become an active peer leader!

101:
Village Varsity
102: This innovative mentoring program pairs freshman residents with returning Village residents. In addition to sponsoring mentor/mentee special events, the Village Varsity sponsors general programming geared to promote freshman involvement and general acclimation to campus life. In addition to their role as academic and campus mentors upperclass residents involved with this program also provide information and peer guidance about class schedules and other aspects of campus life.

103:
Village Council
104: The Village Council is a hub of residential life and serves as the lead event and activity planning group within the Village. If you are looking to get involved and want a say in the type of programming offered within the Village, then this is your group. Led by an elected group of leaders and composed of volunteers from within the residential community, the Village Council exemplifies peer leadership in action.

105:
In addition to serving as the lead event planning group within the Village, members of the Council also provide insight, information and feedback to Housing administration regarding Housing and Residential Life policies, procedures and regulations. Involvement with this group is truly a way to make an impact within the housing community.

106:
Village Peer Conduct Review Board
107: The Village Peer Conduct Review Board is comprised of Village residents selected to this committee after completing a competitive application process. This committee reviews allegations that a resident may have violated one or more of the Village regulations. The group is chaired by a Resident Advisor and advised by the Resident Director.

108:
Student Leadership Program
109: Through their participation in this program CSU Stanislaus students prepare for leadership roles within the campus community and beyond. The Student Leadership Program combines effective leadership training with integrative service skills training to equip program participants with the essential tools needed to meet the personal and societal challenges of the new millennium. Students who successfully complete this certificate program not only gain a broader and deeper understanding of their own leadership potential, they earn the ability to have a co-curricular transcript upon graduation.

110:
Greek Life, Clubs and Organizations
111: Whether you are looking for an academic, social, religious, special interest, or recreational organization there is something here to fit your interests. Clubs and organizations are a vital component of campus and Village life and will enrich your university experience in ways too numerous to count. With thirteen Greek organizations and sixty-two chartered clubs to choose from you’ll find that your choice is limited only by your time and imagination.

112:
Athletics
113: CSU Stanislaus fields 14 men's and women's athletics teams in the California Collegiate Athletic Association, having become a member in the Fall of 1998. The University is affiliated nationally with the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA), Division II.
114:
115: The Warriors have a winning tradition. During its 14 years of competition at the NCAA Division III level, CSU Stanislaus won 12 national golf championships, two national baseball championships and had both its men's and women's basketball teams reach the Final Four in the national tournaments.
116:
117: The Warriors have been very competitive at the national level since moving up to NCAA Division II 1989-90. The 1993 and 1994 women's track seasons conclude with a Stanislaus athlete, Carrie Luis, claiming a double national championship in the 800 and 1500-meter races.
118:
119: Since 1968 nearly 200 Warrior athletes have earned All-American honors

120:
Intramural Sports
121: Athletically inclined, but not interested in intercollegiate athletics? If so, you’ll want to check out the Associated Students, Inc. intramural sports program. Both individual and team sign-ups are welcome. Village residents actively participate and have a strong presence within the leagues. Intramural sports include: open gym, volleyball, flag football, tennis, kickball, indoor soccer, basketball and softball.
